A Gate Company Built in Orlando
Started in 2008 with repairs to driveway swing and sliding gates, and grown into new gates, openers and access control.
Philip Ramos started Callahan Gate Services in Orlando in 2008, beginning with repair work on driveway swing gates and sliding gates. That is the kind of work that shows how a gate wears: a leaf that sags on its hinges, a roller worn flat in its track, an opener that no longer answers the remote.
The work has grown since then. Today it covers new gate installation in aluminum, steel and wood, operator and motor replacement, hinge and roller repair, keypad and remote programming, safety sensor adjustment, and intercom or access control hookups.
Repair Work as the Starting Point
Starting on repairs shapes how a company looks at a gate. A repair shows what happens years after a gate was put in: the post that has leaned a few degrees, the hinge that carried more weight than it was sized for, the operator mounted at an angle that strains its arm, the wire splice that let in water. Those faults are a good education in what a new gate needs from its first day.
In Orlando that education comes quickly. Daily summer storms soak control boxes and send lightning surges down the power lines, sandy soil lets a shallow post shift, and fast growth reaches hinges and photo eyes within a season. A gate built here has to allow for all of it, and a repair here has to put right the cause as well as the broken part.
The Gate Work We Do Today
The work now covers the whole gate in five lines, from the posts in the ground to the keypad by the drive. Each line can be a job of its own, and many gate jobs touch two or three of them.
| Line of work | What it includes | More detail |
|---|---|---|
| Installation | New swing, sliding and cantilever gates in aluminum, steel and wood, with posts and hardware sized to the leaf | Gate Installation |
| Repair | Hinge and roller repair, leaves that sag or drag, latches that miss their keeper, frames knocked out of line | Gate Repair |
| Openers | Operator and motor replacement, limit settings, safety sensor adjustment and the manual release | Gate Openers |
| Access control | Keypad and remote programming, intercom hookups, card and fob readers wired to the operator | Access Control |
| Upkeep | Hinges, rollers, tracks, sensors and limit settings looked over before wear turns into a repair | Gate Maintenance |
Homes, Rentals, Entry Gates and Business Lots
We work for four kinds of customers, and each asks something different of a gate.
- Homeowners in Orlando, Winter Park and Kissimmee, who want a driveway gate that opens when the car arrives, closes behind it and stays quiet for years.
- Landlords with rental properties, who need a gate that tenants can use without a lesson, codes and remotes that are easy to change when tenants move, and repairs that last.
- Property managers with parking or entry gates, where a gate may open and close all day, residents and visitors need different ways in, and fire and emergency vehicles must get through.
- Small businesses that secure a yard or lot, where a wide sliding or cantilever gate closes the property at night and the people who work there need a simple way in each morning.
What We Care About in a Gate Job
- Posts set plumb. A gate is only as straight as the post it hangs on, and a post a little out of plumb turns into a leaf that drags or a latch that misses.
- Tight connections. A loose hinge bolt or a loose wire at the control board is behind many gates that work one day and stop the next, so the small connections matter as much as the big parts.
- Sensors aimed right. A photo eye that is aimed wrong can stop a gate that should close, or miss a car that is still in the way.
- The problem explained before a tool comes out. You hear what is wrong with the gate and why, so the decision about what to do stays yours.
- What needs fixing now, and what can wait. A safety fault comes first. Wear that can be planned for is named as wear that can wait.
- Gates for homes and small properties. Driveways, rental homes, parking entrances and business yards: the gates people pass through every day.
Philip Ramos, Founder and Manager
Philip learned gate work on a residential installation crew, hanging swing gates, setting operators and wiring control boxes, before he started Callahan Gate Services in 2008. Today he does the site visits and estimates in person, so the person who looks at your gate is the person who started the company.
